This rare and rarified purple-flowered oxlip is also known as Primula elatior ssp. meyeri.  Its utterly exceptional floral color comes in typical oxlip form: a tubular calyx with the showy petals flaring dramatically at the tip.  But the typical yellow oxlip color occurs only at the flower's center (also in somewhat dramatic fashion).  Propagated from seed.  Deep 3.5-inch pots.  Zone 4.
