One of our native irises (and raised from Rhode Island seed), slender blue flag could be used much more in gardens in its Maine-to-Alabama natural range (and elsewhere as well).  Grassy leaves and blue, white-blazed late spring to early summer flowers arise from shallow moderately spreading rhizomes.  An inhabitant of brackish coastal habitats and moist inland meadows and swamps, it does particularly well in damp garden niches.  3.5-inch pots.  Zone 5.  Photo: Devin Rodgers and Mason Brock (Masebrock)
