Happy in bog-like conditions in full sun or in less soggy circumstances in partial shade, fringed sedge forms gradually spreading tussocks of rather broad evegreen blades. Drooping catkin-like inflorescences appear in late spring on stems that rise well above the leaves. Good as a tall ground cover in informal borders, wildflower plantings, and rain gardens.
Full to part sun; wet to average soil; 3'x2'; late spring; RI native; Zone 3
Propagated from seed; deep 3.5-inch pots
