Adorable even in name, spring vetchling pushes up its pinnate leaves and deep rose-purple pea-flowers quite early in the season, typically mid-April here.  A must for the shade garden, where it will self-sow, if you're lucky.

Part to full shade; average, preferably humus-rich soil; 10"x10"; early spring; Zone 5

Propagated from seed; deep 3.5-inch pots
