Hemiboea subcapitata

Current Stock:

One of the few hardy members of the Gesneriaceae -- the family that encompasses African violets and gloxinias, among others -- this East Asian native spreads into clumps of large glossy leaves that give rise to tubular white, purple-throated flowers late in the season.  We have only a handful to sell this year (they're not the easiest thing from seed!)

Part shade; humus-rich soil; 1'x2'; late summer to fall; Zone 6

Propagated from seed; deep 3.5-inch pots
