Aster (Ionactis) linariifolius
An exquisite native perennial for a rock garden, xeric border, or other dry sunny niche, flax-leaved aster forms finely textured hummocks of needle-like leaves that are the equal of any heather or conifer. The display ratchets up another notch in late summer, when starry lavender-blue flowers open at the stem tips. Rarely offered. These plants are from Rhode Island seed.
