Salvia koyamae
$13.95
A close relative of Salvia glutinosa, Himalayan sage generally exists on a somewhat higher plain, both literally and figuratively. It's more mountain-dwelling in habitat, and more upright (and arguably more refined) in habit. The flowers are the same pale yellow as those of Salvia glutinosa, but blotched with brown on their lower lips. With its high-altitude origins, it's not happy with excessive heat and drought.
Part shade; average to moist, humus-rich soil; 3'x2'; midsummer to fall; Zone 6
Propagated from seed; deep 3.5-inch pots
