Description

The western U.S. has numerous splendiferous blue-flowered beardtongues, few of which thrive in the flatlands of the East, sadly. Here's one of the exceptions.  The brilliant violet-blue, sharkshead-shaped flowers have a metallic sheen that further increases their amperage.  A site with relatively porous soil suits it best.  Propagated from seed.  Deep 3.5-inch pots.  Zone 5.  Photo: JerryFriedman
