Our most compact (and arguably most garden-worthy) native Joe-Pye weed bears the usual frothy heads of purple-pink flowers in late summer, but on plants that top out at about 4-1/2 feet. These plants come from Rhode Island seed collected by botanist Heather Leeson. Zone 5. Propagated from seed. Deep 3.5-inch pots. Photo: David J. Stang, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0
