A massive forb from moist open woodlands of the central and eastern U.S., pale Indian plantain forms imposing clumps of glaucous fan-shaped foliage, which give rise (and we mean RISE) to statuesque, leafy stalks topped by branching clusters of white flowers. It's makes an arresting architectural feature for a large border.
